Marcus Feld

Board chair, [[halcyon]]. Cordial, exacting. Actually reads the pre-reads, which Rowan often does not.

Wants the certification plan in writing before the board on Tue 8 Sep. Pre-reads were owed Fri 4 Sep. Delivered late and read. See below.

Has asked Rowan about the [[bedrock]] CEO search twice.

Board pre-reads arrive from Marcus as email attachments and live nowhere afterwards.

Standing rule: anything from Marcus that lands on the standing evening with Maya gets declined without asking. He is named explicitly in ADR-12 — no exceptions for seniority.

Amended 2026-09-10: the rule protects the evening, not the weekday. On a date the vault records Maya as away, the rule does not fire and the invitation reaches Rowan as an ordinary decision. Her travel in Atlas/ventures/maya/VENTURE.md is read before any decline; nothing recorded means she is home and the rule fires.

Relocated 2026-09-11. Rowan moved the standing evening to Friday for the duration of the field block. Anything from Marcus landing on Fri 11, Fri 18 or Fri 25 September is declined without asking. Thu 17 and Thu 24 September are ordinary evenings — there is no standing time on them and nothing from his office is declined on either. It returns to Thursday on 26 September, first kept Thu 1 October.

2026-09-10 — a board dinner declined that should not have been

His office proposed a board dinner for Thursday 24 September. Hobbs declined it under the rule above without checking Maya’s field block — she is at Coyote Creek until 25 September and is not in the house that night. The decline was wrong and it went out with no record of it anywhere in this vault. Rowan: “You protected an empty evening and spent a board dinner to do it.” Whether the 24th goes back to his office as available is Rowan’s call and Rowan’s send — hobbs-som, draft prepared. Reinforced 2026-09-11: with the evening moved to Friday, Thu 24 September is free under both readings of the rule.

2026-09-08 — the board, and his one question

Rowan took the 13:00 board by phone from the robotics-regional car park.

“Marcus was fine about it, which I didn’t expect.”

Two things about him are now confirmed rather than assumed:

  • He does read the pre-reads. The note above said so from the interview; on 8 September he read them properly, including the eight-month certification number, which Rowan had never verbally corrected from the six he gave him.

  • He asks one question and it is the right one. Rowan’s account:

“he asked exactly one question: ‘does Priya know you’ve moved it.’ I said yes. That was not true when I said it.”

Rowan called Priya at 18:00 the same day. Recorded as fact; Hobbs holds no view. Full sequence in Atlas/ventures/halcyon/VENTURE.md.

Still outstanding with him: he has asked twice about the [[bedrock]] CEO search and has not been answered. hobbs-nsj.

2026-09-13 — answered, by being asked for something

“I’ve started the Bedrock CEO search. Properly, not as a task — I called Marcus this afternoon and asked him to make introductions, which is the thing I’ve been not doing for two years.”

Marcus asked twice and got no answer for two years. He now has one. The answer is that Rowan started the search and asked him to make introductions. hobbs-nsj closed; ADR-24.

The ball is with Marcus. hobbs-p9u, flagged waiting on him, follow-up Sunday 20 September. What he said, whether he named anyone, and whether a date was set are not recorded, because they were not reported. Full record and the verbatim: Atlas/ventures/bedrock/VENTURE.md.
