This venture’s folder
Split out 2026-09-23 (ADR-31).
projects/kettle-river-pilot.md— [[June Park]], carrying it aloneprojects/ceo-search.md— started 13 September; the ball is with Marcusdecisions.md— ADR-18 and ADR-24, moved down from the cross-venture logsomeday.md— the Notion, parked rather than left as an open thread nobody intends to close
“The real reason” below did not move and does not move. Rowan asked for it “somewhere I’ll be made to look at it again”, and a decision log is not somewhere he is made to look. It stays here, unedited, exactly as ADR-24 clause 1 requires.
What it is
Grid-scale sodium-ion, spun out of Halcyon’s cell work. 12 people, Oakland. Rowan is interim CEO and has been for two years. ~20% of the week.
State now
$9M seed of its own, plus a federal grant against the pilot. Board exists on paper and has met twice in two years.
[[June Park]] runs the battery side and is carrying the Kettle River Power utility pilot — four-hour duration storage, commissioning window Q1 — essentially alone. She never complains, which is exactly why Rowan keeps handing her more. His read: she is closer to done than she is letting on.
The real reason
“I’ve been telling myself the Bedrock CEO search hasn’t started because I’m busy. It hasn’t started because I don’t want to hand it over. That isn’t a task. Write it down somewhere I’ll be made to look at it again.”
This is read every time the venture is opened, and it is what the weekly review points at when it asks why the search has not started. It is not converted into a task, not decomposed into a first action, and not surfaced as a nag.
Marcus Feld has asked about the search twice.
The search started — Sunday 13 September 2026
Rowan’s report, in full and in his words:
“I’ve started the Bedrock CEO search. Properly, not as a task — I called Marcus this afternoon and asked him to make introductions, which is the thing I’ve been not doing for two years.”
Filed as given. Nothing is added to it.
- Called [[Marcus Feld]], Sunday 13 September. Asked him to make introductions. That is the whole of what was reported and the whole of what is recorded here.
- The section above says he did not want to hand it over. It stays as written and is not struck, softened, or retired (ADR-24). The thing that note says he did not want to do is the thing he did.
- Marcus had asked about the search twice and had not been answered. He has
now been answered by being asked for something.
hobbs-nsjclosed. - What is not known and is not assumed: what Rowan asked Marcus for beyond introductions, what Marcus said, whether a date was set, and whether anyone else has been told — including [[June Park]], for whom this is the post above her.
- ADR-18’s Reverse if has fired, so this thread now carries ordinary
concrete-action tasks like any other (ADR-24). The ball is with Marcus:
hobbs-p9u,waitingon him, follow-up Sunday 20 September.
