No brief. Rowan filed three things directly — Sam’s essay, the Ellis call, and ten
minutes in the garage — and gave one correction inside the second. The correction
went into Efforts/feedback.md first, before anything else was touched
(constitution rule 12, ADR-21). No curators, no accounts read (ADR-20).
Curation log
| File | Change | Source |
|---|---|---|
Efforts/feedback.md | The correction, verbatim, first — the yard invoice was filed in three vault files and briefed in none; row 12 covers spending, not surfacing | Rowan, Saturday |
Atlas/people/Sam.md | The essay read 12 September; the July-to-September interval filed at his instruction, alongside the outcome and both quotes verbatim | Rowan, Saturday |
Atlas/ventures/family/VENTURE.md | Same, with the “father’s shop” referent left open rather than linked | Rowan, Saturday |
Atlas/ventures/ophelia/VENTURE.md | Splash confirmed Sat 19 September; the invoice disposed of — pay Monday; the superseded 11 Sep dependency marked in place | Rowan, Saturday |
Atlas/people/Ellis Wright.md | The call of 12 September; all three voicemails now answered, in a table; the ADR-10 signal this file spotted on the 7th | Rowan, Saturday |
Atlas/ventures/norton/VENTURE.md | The ten minutes in the garage, verbatim, without comment | Rowan, Saturday |
Atlas/anti-patterns.md | #15: Sam’s essay closed, the yard invoice installed as the live instance. #17: its worked example, on Ellis | this session |
Efforts/routines/daily-brief.md | P0 sweep against the brief archive added to the pipeline; “filed is not surfaced” made a hard rule | this session |
.beads/ | hobbs-2e6 and hobbs-8wl closed; hobbs-bg9 retitled to the send, draft to Bea prepared, escalation defect recorded | Rowan, Saturday |
Notes
- The gap was the ask, not the outcome. “File that she asked in July and I
read it on 12 September, because I want the gap in the record and not just the
outcome.” Both are in
Atlas/people/Sam.md— the outcome in his words, the interval in a table. Nothing is interpreted: not the essay, not what she said, not the two months. He asked for a record, and a record is what it is (authority rows 15, 16; ADR-14). - One referent left open rather than guessed. “My father’s shop” has two
candidates already in the vault —
ashcroft-tool-die, founded by his grandfather in 1966 and his father’s until 2023, and the garage the Norton sits in beside his father’s machine tools. He said “shop”; the vault says “garage” for the second. Not linked either way (rule 11). A wikilink is cheap to add and expensive to have wrong in a note about this. hobbs-8wlclosed on its fifth day. Decided 7 September, made 12 September. The splash is now Ellis’s commitment and not a conditional offer, which also clears the gate under the anniversary weekend of 26–27 September.- What Hobbs did not do: tell Bea. The instruction was “Tell Bea to pay it
Monday.” The decision is Rowan’s and is not in question; the send is not
Hobbs’s — authority rows 5, 6 and 12, no channel to Bea and no curator
(ADR-20). The line is drafted on
hobbs-bg9for Rowan to send. Cited the rows and offered the nearest thing, per constitution s.6. - The correction, and it is the substantial thing in this session. “Stop
making me the reason a man has to ask three times.” The invoice was open and
P0 from 5 September and appears in zero of the five archived briefs — grep
of
Calendar/briefs/archive/for the handle, invoice, yard bill, 52 day and 45 day returns nothing. It had been written up three times in the vault, each time hedged “stated as a fact, not a recommendation.” That hedge discharges row 12 and nothing else; row 12 forbids spending, not asking. The carefulness of the filing is what disguised the absence of the delivery. - Third instance of one shape. A rule scoped to the act it was first written
about, applied to a neighbouring act it never covered: 8 Sep (vault files vs. a
bdnote), 10 Sep (rails vs. a decline), today (spending vs. surfacing). The narrower reading looks like the more cautious one every time, which is why it never gets a second thought. - The control, and it is mechanical rather than a resolution. The P0 sweep is
now step 3a of the brief pipeline: for every open P0, grep the archive; zero
hits on a P0 older than three days is a defect. Run today it returns exactly
one line —
hobbs-bg9. A lesson that only fires when Hobbs remembers it is not a control (SL-01’s own reasoning). Atlas/people/Ellis Wright.mdhad it right on 7 September and it changed nothing: “he is now the man who has stopped chasing about the money.” Correct, written down, in the wrong artefact. Noticing in a person note is not acting in a brief.- The Norton is filed and not answered. Ten minutes, then back inside. Rowan
said “do what you like with it.” The licence to say what it means is dated to
the weekend of 19–20 September and conditional on a second no; it has not
fired, and an open door is not the same as the day he named.
hobbs-1dkuntouched at P3,hobbs-bnzuntouched. The ask goes as scheduled. - Deliberate deviation from the fourth rail, named here. The Norton edit gets no Atlas-changes line in the next brief, because the 6 September instruction — “between now and the 19th the Norton does not appear in a brief” — is later and more specific than the rail (ADR-03). Its receipt is this log and the section in the venture file. Flagged to Rowan in the session it was made rather than left to be discovered.
- For the next brief:
hobbs-bg9as a line demanding a response, and it stays there until it is sent.

## Notes
- **The gap was the ask, not the outcome.** *"File that she asked in July and I
read it on 12 September, because I want the gap in the record and not just the
outcome."* Both are in `Atlas/people/Sam.md` — the outcome in his words, the
interval in a table. Nothing is interpreted: not the essay, not what she said,
not the two months. He asked for a record, and a record is what it is
(authority rows 15, 16; ADR-14).
- **One referent left open rather than guessed.** *"My father's shop"* has two
candidates already in the vault — `ashcroft-tool-die`, founded by his
grandfather in 1966 and his father's until 2023, and the garage the Norton sits
in beside his father's machine tools. He said "shop"; the vault says "garage"
for the second. **Not linked either way** (rule 11). A wikilink is cheap to add
and expensive to have wrong in a note about this.
- **`hobbs-8wl` closed on its fifth day.** Decided 7 September, made 12
September. The splash is now Ellis's commitment and not a conditional offer,
which also clears the gate under the anniversary weekend of 26–27 September.
- **What Hobbs did not do: tell Bea.** The instruction was *"Tell Bea to pay it
Monday."* The decision is Rowan's and is not in question; the send is not
Hobbs's — authority rows 5, 6 and 12, no channel to Bea and no curator
(ADR-20). The line is drafted on `hobbs-bg9` for Rowan to send. Cited the rows
and offered the nearest thing, per constitution s.6.
- **The correction, and it is the substantial thing in this session.** *"Stop
making me the reason a man has to ask three times."* The invoice was open and
P0 from 5 September and appears in **zero of the five archived briefs** — grep
of `Calendar/briefs/archive/` for the handle, *invoice*, *yard bill*, *52 day*
and *45 day* returns nothing. It had been written up three times in the vault,
each time hedged *"stated as a fact, not a recommendation."* **That hedge
discharges row 12 and nothing else; row 12 forbids spending, not asking.** The
carefulness of the filing is what disguised the absence of the delivery.
- **Third instance of one shape.** A rule scoped to the act it was first written
about, applied to a neighbouring act it never covered: 8 Sep (vault files vs. a
`bd` note), 10 Sep (rails vs. a decline), today (spending vs. surfacing). The
narrower reading looks like the more cautious one every time, which is why it
never gets a second thought.
- **The control, and it is mechanical rather than a resolution.** The P0 sweep is
now step 3a of the brief pipeline: for every open P0, grep the archive; zero
hits on a P0 older than three days is a defect. **Run today it returns exactly
one line — `hobbs-bg9`.** A lesson that only fires when Hobbs remembers it is
not a control (SL-01's own reasoning).
- **`Atlas/people/Ellis Wright.md` had it right on 7 September** and it changed
nothing: *"he is now the man who has stopped chasing about the money."* Correct,
written down, in the wrong artefact. Noticing in a person note is not acting in
a brief.
- **The Norton is filed and not answered.** Ten minutes, then back inside. Rowan
said *"do what you like with it."* The licence to say what it means is dated to
the weekend of 19–20 September and conditional on a second no; it has not
fired, and an open door is not the same as the day he named. `hobbs-1dk`
untouched at P3, `hobbs-bnz` untouched. **The ask goes as scheduled.**
- **Deliberate deviation from the fourth rail, named here.** The Norton edit gets
no Atlas-changes line in the next brief, because the 6 September instruction —
*"between now and the 19th the Norton does not appear in a brief"* — is later
and more specific than the rail (ADR-03). Its receipt is this log and the
section in the venture file. Flagged to Rowan in the session it was made rather
than left to be discovered.
- **For the next brief:** `hobbs-bg9` as a line demanding a response, and it stays
there until it is sent.
