# Friday 11 September 2026

Rowan asked for the brief and then gave three dispositions: the Tessellate
pro-rata, the answer to the three Thursdays, and the anniversary. All three were
written to files before the brief was produced (constitution rule 1). No curators,
no accounts read (ADR-20).

## Notes

- **The pro-rata record exists because of one sentence.** *"If I'm wrong in a year
  I want to be able to see exactly which argument I bought."* ADR-23 is built
  around making the argument separable from the outcome, so a good result cannot
  retrospectively validate the reasoning and a bad one cannot condemn it. Rowan
  separated the two claims himself in his first clause — the signal, which he
  bought, and the merits, which he explicitly did not — and the ADR keeps them
  apart rather than merging them into one tidier reason.
- **The reverse-if that is least obvious and most likely to matter:** a signal
  argument renews itself at every subsequent bridge in a way a merits argument
  does not. The first repeat is the tell. Written in as condition 4.
- **The three Thursdays were answered by dissolving the question.** Rowan:
  *"That's the answer to the three Thursdays: there are none."* This is clause 4
  of the ADR-12 amendment working as designed — he moves the evening, Hobbs files
  the location, row 9 follows it there. Hobbs proposed nothing and holds no view
  on where it sits (authority row 14).
- **The reversion date is his instruction, not an inference.** *"Move it back on
  the 26th."* 26 September is a Saturday, so the first Thursday the evening is
  kept again is 1 October. That derivation is stated in every file that carries
  the rule so it cannot be re-guessed later.
- **What Hobbs cannot do about the three Fridays.** There is no calendar curator
  (ADR-20), so whatever is already booked on 11, 18 or 25 September is invisible
  here. Row 9 can only decline what reaches Hobbs. Named in the ADR note and in
  the venture file rather than left as an implied capability.
- **The anniversary arrived eight days before the deadline he set himself.** On
  7 September he asked to be made to think about it *"before it's the nineteenth
  and too late."* Recorded as a date, without comment.
- **The surprise is a constraint with teeth, and it collides with an existing
  authority.** Row 8 lets Hobbs send Maya a line about an unbooked health item.
  That channel now must not carry anything about the 26th–27th. Written into
  `Atlas/people/Maya.md` at the point of use rather than only in the maya venture
  note, because the row-8 line would be composed from her note.
- **The weekend has two dependencies that were not visible until it was booked.**
  The splash is gated on a phone call decided on 7 September and still not made
  (`hobbs-8wl`), and Ruth's Sunday landline call lands at 19:00 on the 27th. Both
  stated as facts. Neither is a recommendation.
- **Spotlight: `ashcroft-tool-die`** — Claire's view, which is nowhere in the
  vault while ADR-22 sits unsigned. `home` was spotlit yesterday, `money` on the
  9th, `rivet-yard` on the 8th; none repeats this week (ADR-19). `maya` is exempt,
  which is why none of this morning's three largest items is the spotlight.
- **Day counts re-derived from `Atlas/people/` frontmatter**, not from
  `scripts/brief-prep.sh` — the machine clock still reports 5 September
  (`hobbs-bkt`). Cormorant's business-day figure was re-derived from the call date
  in `fund-lps` rather than decremented from yesterday's brief (SL-01).
